Hi all! First of all it’s good to be back after god knows how many years being unable to log in, so thank you to everyone involved in fixing the site up!
I’m going straight in with something i know a lot of you could help me with....
so I am trying to wrap my head around how I will wire up my omex 200....
It needs a few ignition lives, one for the coil, one for the ECU itself, and two relay triggers for the fan and fuel pump....
For those that have fitted an after market ECU, how have you done this?
I could just solder everything on to the ignition barrel, or add a junction block to the coil wire (I think it's still there), assuming these are the only ignition lives we have? However, I'm not too sure about adding on to 40 year old wiring, although light, so I'm thinking of using a wire from the ignition coil, or the old coil feed just to trigger a relay that will make a new fuse box live, to supply all my feeds etc....
I have drawn up a few options that all work in theory, has anyone done anything similar or can anyone recommend an option to go with?
Option 1 - The ECU, coil pack, and relay triggers for the fan and fuel pump relays all take power from a fuse box made live by an ignition switched relay. The fan and fuel pump take power straight from the battery with their own inline fuses...
Option 2 - Similar to diagram 1 except the fuel pump now takes its feed from the fuse box rather than the battery.
Option 3 - Everything is now connected to the fuse box, feeds for the ECU, coil, fan and fuel pump, and the triggers for the fan and fuel pump relays.
Many thanks!!
