Check the connections at the starter and at the earth point first before replacing anything.
I've found wires that have corroded from the inside out before now!

I can't comment about the Connect though.
I've hear people say Mk3 EFI and various other starters.
Some of which I've seen are LARGER than the CVH standard one.
Best to search around and see what is the smallest one you can find.

Jason.

Might also be worth checking which battery is fitted. Mine used to be a bastard to hot start, so checked battery and found it was only 300 something Amps. Probably for an 1100. Stuck 500A battery on and problem solved.

Problem now is getting 500A 093 battery - nobody seems to do them anymore. 400A is best I've found.

Hot starting issues...

Battery relocated? Forgot the earth connection to the starter?

Strip down the starter, probably gunked up and dried out grease. Clean up/regrease should buy you a bit of time (they are sooo easy to strip).
If not go for the Connect starter - far better/newer and smaller so are futher away from the heat of the manifold
