Forum Guidelines

These are a fairly basic set of guidelines intended to keep the forums running as smoothly as possible. However, these are just guidelines and NOT rules, this means that some of them can be flexible to a certain degree but this will be determined by the moderating or admin team. Members who consistently abuse the forum will be warned and if the abuse continues will be banned.

General Guidelines:
  • Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting.
  • Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. Flaming, trolling or abusing other users in any way will not be tolerated. A "flame" is a post that is obviously abusive and aimed at one or more users, a "troll" on the other hand is a post that is not obviously abusive but is written in a way as to provoke an argument, or prompt a flame from another user.
  • Members should remember this board is aimed at a general audience. Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated.
  • Members are asked to respect the copyright laws. Users linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. will receive a warning and their post will be removed.
  • Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts.
  • Members should not post private information about any other person, be they member or nonmember, on the public forum without their consent. This includes addresses, phone numbers, car registrations, etc. If any member needs to exchange their own personal details with another member you are encouraged to use a PM or email. Bear in mind that if you post your info on the forum - everyone can read it.
  • As above, Members should be aware that any information they post on the board like email addresses and telephone numbers are visable to everyone. This information is also Yahoo/Google search engine searchable. Please bear this in mind when posting information.
  • Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstance. This includes offering any services or products that are of no relevance to the topic of the forum.
  • Members are asked to check the FAQ section before posting as 'Frequently Asked Questions' are often answered in there.
  • Members are asked to keep signature and avatar images to a reasonable size.

Avatars ( the image under your name on the left ) should be no larger than 100x100 pixels and 20k in size.

Signatures ( the image under your message body text ) should be no larger than 500x100 Pixels and no larger than 50Kb in size.
Signatures can be made up of one or more images, but make sure that the combined sizes do not exceed the maximum size stated above.

ONE line of text can be added above or below the signature image.

Members with images or signature text larger than this will have them removed. Avatars and Signature images come under the same rules regarding the posting of pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated.
  • Members are asked to keep image sizes reasonable. Don't post images larger than 800x600 on the forum. Simply put a link to the image instead if it is particularly large. Remember that not everyone who browses the forum may have broadband or a large resolution monitor.
  • Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue which they believe is inappropriate they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a member of the Moderator Team. Moderators are listed on the Forum Index page and can be contacted via Personal Message from there.
  • The moderating and admin team reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. is up to the moderators/admin and not users.

  • Buying/Selling.

Members are encouraged to buy and sell items that may be of interest to other members of the board. These sales are unmoderated by the Mod team.

However, any member who is found to be misusing the service; by selling illegal items, offering items for sale and not sending goods, not paying for items sent etc, will be permanantly banned from the message board.

  • Disciplinary 'Star' System.

The guidelines above are intended as a guide on how to conduct yourself on the board, but sometimes it may be necessary for one of the Moderation Team to discipline a member. In most cases a simple Private Message explaining what rule has been broken is sufficient. However, in some cases it is necessary to make a permenant disciplinary mark in the form of a 'Star'. These are added to the members profile and are visible to all members. Stars are cumulative and will not be given out lightly. Chances are any member who has been given a star will have received a number of PM's regarding the issue before hand.

The star ratings are detailed below:

    One *.
PM'd Warning leading to a 3 day ban.

    Two *'s.
Final PM'd Warning leading to a 7 day ban.

    Three *'s.
    Instant Permanent Ban.

  • The above forum guidelines and rules, where applicable, also apply to private messaging.
  • The admin team reserve the right to change these guidelines at any time.
  • By using the forum you agree that you have read and understood these guidelines. If you do not wish to follow this or intend to behave in an unacceptable way then please leave now.

Let's try to follow the guidelines and keep this a happy place.
