i am in the final stages of fitting all the parts to the twin40 turbo conversion all i need to do now is take it some place to get all the compresion changed, well i think i do

it was a 2lt xr2 (cvh) then i fitted the webber carbs had it all tuned etc, decided i wanted to turbo it and keep the 40's as seen on a nova at santa pod, i am still waiting on my custom enclosure for the 40's but thought i better get the other bits sorted while i was waiting, what engine components do i have to change if any, also can anyone recomend any placed in the kent area to have this done
thanks edward

(i will be in the xr2 turbo gang lol )

have you got sealed carbs then? because as soon as you put any boost pressure through them it will leak! there turbo twin 40's avalible but you would probably have to buy them new

A 2 ltr CVH has been bored waaaaay past it's tolerances. And you're carbs will leak.

Tall block CVH i imagine?

As for dropping compression ratio thers a couple of ways of doing it on the cheap depending on what kind of boost you are thinking of running?

That is a problem with all tt carbs as well,

i've spent hours tryin to seal mine, but still leaks, its not a mega problem as long as fuelin right, and the leaks the same all the time.

its not good, as making the turbo work harder than norm, but i've never a had a problem.

i know they leak as Fast Dan proved, but your carb is degined to run with a turbo presserising it, unlike normal twin 40's

im really not sure about any renault 5 carb - yes they are designed for turbo, but why do they have to run 20+psi boost to see anywhere near 200bhp, i doubt its down to a mere 200cc's less than RST/TT. Could be the head? but i suspect the throttle bore is much smaller in area than say a 32/34 DFT.....i could be wrong, but like i say they seem to run massive boost, compared with danny's 16psi to run 13 sec 1/4 miles.

dont give up on the 40's, all it'll be is a kit of seals that you'll need to fit (as webber did do a turbo version of the DCOE). just need to find someone who's knowledgable about em.

a tt carb is a std xr2 carb, with jets changed and throttle linkage changed.

I'm looking into a r5 carb for mine next.

i know they manage to 300-400 bhp thro them so it will do for my 200-240bhp.

i guess they need more boost, as like you sed its a 1400, old style engine, low comp etc etc, i would not say it was the carb's fault, as they wouldn't get the 300+ figures even if it is @ 35psi. but least you know from that it can flow the air, fuel it correct, and take the high boost.
