Its went a bit quite in here apart from the occasional defensive debates of who's car is faster than who's... :?

Whats everyones state of play? Whats your car doing and what are you doing to the car? If anything?

Mines will only run when you push the metering flap down to give it fuel! :(

Dave.

State of play at the moment?

Well car is off road already after about a monthon it, as i have run out of money and cannot afford the ten pound a day fuel bill

Giving me some good time to tinker with it though as now i have fitted the rear half of the roll cage and doing other stuff like tidying the engine bay up.
Other than that i am just brewing big plans for 2004

Rolls: I have a spare iscv if you want it? let me know dude and i will post it off to you.

Here's my state of play: a hole in the block (where there shouldn't be one) :( explored a few different avenues and arrived back at a 1600 bottom end, gonna do it properly this time, found a guy who does proper motorsport engine balancing, so the new crank assembly and rods are going for a work over, get some new pistons and put it back together :D

here my state of play.... One bare shell at the mo, about to have the floorpan fabricated.... All rot to be taken car of at the same time, and the cossie engined mounts/inner wings going on...

Gonna be a long winded project me thinks - but hopefully worth it!

Chris

Well, of the two projects the mk1 is the closest to being finished. Originally it was only meant to be a buck to try out the new engine in, but once i collected it and stripped it down for inspection i realised that it was gonna need a fair bit of work to get through its MOT, so i've decided its worth making look nice and have worked pretty hard on it so far at present i'm still welding/pathcing it up, then i'll prep it and have it blown over and drop the engine in.

Engine spec:

1298 Kent bottom end (rebuilt by myself with 8.2:1 low compression pistons)
1600 GT head, mildly ported.
Kent BCF1 camshaft
Piper double valve springs, machined steel rocker posts.
Xflow 1300 hybrid inlet manifold to fit Solex 32DIS carburettor.
Garret T3 turbocharger
2 1/2", single box exhaust system.

Once finished i want 150bhp, so i'll stick it on the rolling road and siply turn up the boost till it gets there! ;)

The mk2 is a bit weird, basically the plans for engine seems forever changing, the most recent is as follows:

1600 rst bottom end (rebuilt by myself..anyone selling one?)
Mahle pistons
NMS Forged rods
NMS Stage 3 head
Piper 285T Cam, double valve springs
Twin Weber 45 DCOE carbs
Garett Cosworth spec T3 turbo
Twin-cosworth intercooler
Quaife Gearbox...

I want 250 real bhp from this engine, and am going to get it.

The shell needs sorting, i've started welding in the cage, i have done most of the cutting and welding of the rest of the car, i just need to fit the kit really and i have prepped and primed the engine bay ready for a spray, once thats done i will drop the bottom end in and start to build up the engine inside the car. But this is on hold till the mk1 is finished.

-Paul.

mine at the mo is runnin a std xr2 engine, since aug, when it put a nice hole throu no1 piston 1/2 way up the strip at the pod,
either gona stick with the 1.8 and go ross fodged, or go to a rst b-end low comp, all i want is 1 true 180-190 bhp reliable engine, still be able to get low 14's and may be late 13's on the rite day.
all my money goin to my cossie 4*4 2i, soon to de 480+bhp

btw...no promises of a completion date for the mk2, as its just so damn expensive, got most of the expensive bits now tho, the quaife box, turbo, head, cam, rods( ) but i still need a block to build...anyone?

The mk1 however is coming along very well now, and i have donated the 300 in the 'mahle pistons savings account' for a blow-over for it (sorry i just like things to look nice!) and aim to have it finished, setup and tested ready for the season opener mid-april at avon park. Check the site for updates!

I think if that car does ever materialise Paul you'll have trouble getting the 45's perfect turbocharged!

Dave.

you dont need twin 45's, 40's will easierly do 250-300bhp, and will be easier to tune and run better.

well, lets look at Tim B's for a rough comparision of what his and pauls run- both prob about 2 bar of boost (h section rods, decent pistons, proper worked head etc), and both will rev to high heaven, producing proper power at the end of the rev range- tim's ran 256 without the decent rods ( for saftey), with act's getting veru very high, so imo 250 is a quite conservative estimate for mr RSPaul's- should do it with relative ease :)

The state of play with mine is.....err....don't know, theres so many big power engines being built my little 140bhp x-flow has no chance apart from being very light, thinking of other options at the mo.

Paul That block is probably avaliable now as I've herd nout from the other guy. Let me know.

ive been busy collecting new bits for A11. nothing exciting, just gaskets and bolts etc. my old man has very kindly been working on the head while im at uni and has spent many an hour lapping the valves. ill be leaving the haynes manual with him so maybe he can get the car running some time. not looking forward to changing the timing belt one bit. looks like an engine out job but i certainly hope its not! ive also got some very evil very very secret plans for the 1/4 mile. lets just say its giong to look ridiculous if i go ahead with them! nothing permanent tho, just for straight lines, mwahahahah
