Well I didn't see much of you at the last track day I went to FFD ;) but your car was in the earlier stages, but then again so was mine pity I didn't develop it so we could of had a rematch, it's just so tempting to come back now things are getting interesting :)

Quick question to dave...

Has your car ever actually been proven?...i.e 1/4 mile, rolling road e.tc?

Cos we have heard an aweful lot from you with little evidence to back it up.

?

Nitrous maybe going Dave, but there are going to be a few more little bits done over winter and the car will be better next year and still no turbo... :)

Although apart from the odd fordsport event or the like I wont be timing it straight line just concentrating on track days...but your welcome to have a go at fordfair, trax or RS national day next year if you have managed to get it running by then?

and Paul the only thing Dave's car is proven...is to be unreliable and usually not to even run...but its one of the best EVER at that!! lol

I'm trying to get it on a Q plate so that i can get it insured as a kitcar which is far cheaper...dunno if they will let me do it tho. I'm going to try and find out what the parameters are of getting a Q plate.

Here's the info I have on this.

Q plates are issued as follows:

Kit conversion where major components are from more than one car.

Imported cars where the date of first registration is unknown.

Cars where the original registration is unknown.

Rebuilt cars that don't contain enough parts from the original car. You need 8 points from the list below:
Bodyshell: 5
Suspsnsion: 2
Axles: 2
Transmission: 2
Steering assembly: 2
Engine : 1

So, having less than 8 points from the list above should ensure a Q plate.

Jason.

I think you have as much chance of changing your fiesta to a Q plate as Dave has at beating a well driven XRT!! ;) , why don't you just send your existing log book back and request and engine size change.. job done.
the DVLA are now reluctant to give out Q plates and wherever possible (due to ringers) and will give out an age related plate which wil be super easy for you as you are using a shell that can be easily dated.

Well from what jason has said i think i *could* qualify as a kit car:

Bodyshell: 5 - this is the only standard part of the car (0 points)
Suspsnsion: 2 - none of the suspension is standard (2points)
Axles: 2 - Custom made driveshafts (1 point)
Transmission: 2 - The gearset isnt standard (quaife) clutch?, casing?
(1/2 points)
Steering assembly: 2 - Quickrack is none standard, steeringwheel? (1, maybe 2 points)
Engine : 1 - Defantely not an original engine (1 point)

Total points = 6, although possibly 8....so i might just make it. I'll have to ring up and see what they say. Not going to do it until the car is finished tho, i'll let you know when i do.

but what I was saying is they don't even issue Q plates to kit cars as they prefer to have them age related, if you take it for an SVA test they may assign it a brand new plate if you can show all the reciepts but as the shell is a bit of a give away :( I remember seeing a brand new mk2 shell once now if you got that and put all your new bits on it they would register it as a brand new car how cool would that be!!
