Hi all just bought second hand cvh engine and it's got square type carb on would that be better than the round top one

The square should allow 96BHP.
The round 90BHP

The dft is more of a performance carb than the Tdlm carb. Plus chances are that engine you bought is a hemi cvh.

Thanks how would I know if it's a hemi head to be honest going sell engine only bought because wanted carb off it

You need to remove the cylinder head to be sure, or check the head for a date stamp. If I remember, the Hemi cvh ran up until late 85 early 86. As late C plate XR2's were early spec. Certainly By D reg the lean burn / tldm was in full swing.

34/34 DATR or DMTR is the ultimate single carb for the XR2 / 1.6 CVH. Bolts straight onto the DFT manifold aswell ;)
