Umm...
Pretty.

Go on then.
How much does it weigh?
:)

Any chance of an option for a sunroof?

Jason.

will weigh it tonight, no chance of a sunroof option, kind of defeats the object of the whole exercise lol

Sunroof defeats the object?

I don't see it like that.
For me, the alure of carbon fibre is two fold.
1. It's light.
2. It doesn't rust!!

The fact it's 'pretty' is JUST a bonus to me.
If I bought one, I'd probably paint it anyway.
:)

Fiesta's with sunroofs are prone to rust at the hinge areas and the drain areas.

Jason.

I see your point,

my aim is is to make a super light panel to help move the weight around the car and lower it, to make a roof to incorporate a sunroof would require a lot more engineering in regards to design, also the materials would have to be revised, probably cost around 800 - 1200 depending on the final design. Thus meaning it really wouldnt sell very well and I would have a huge mould just taking up valuable space in the workshop if that makes sense.

So.. Why couldn't you just mould the under tray section of a sunroof Fiesta and glue that into place on one of your CF Fiesta roofs?

As long as the CF skin doesn't have a core in it, or the core was cut in such a way that there the sunroof would go wouldn't leave the core exposed if the roof was cut for the sunroof. What would be the issue?

Jason.

The roof would have to be a hell of a lot stronger for a start, a lot more material would be required for the outer skin to enable a rigid mounting area, the slightest bit of deflection will cause the sunroof to leak. The where the core stops and meets the car would have to be near on exact with the roof cut line. The this area would be have to be made up of around 10 - 15 layers min to give the required strength.

The inside would be a bit of a mare to make look half decent, also the gaping from inner-outer skins would need to be exact again to maintain a good seal.

I sure there are plenty of other companies who would have a go at it, but its not something I would be interested in. Im more about the motorsport side of composites if that makes any sense mate

Yep.
Makes perfect sense.

The inside wouldn't need to look good as it is covered by the roof lining. I saw this as a factiry spec replacement rather than a motors sport part.

I was just offering an opinion / idea and potential further income from additional customers.

I for one ( other than the rust issues ) love the sunroof in the fiesta.

Jason.

Just got in from collecting my roof. I'm extremely happy with the quality of the product!! Had a good chat with raj (was nice to meet ya fella) so was well worth the journey.

Will get some good pix up of the roof at the weekend.

Also I was there with the roof weigh in.

Cheers matty. Great to meet you to and thank you for your business. Roof weighed in at 4.5kg I think. I'm estimating my roof to be user 3kg
