took 4 moulds to finally get to a surface finish I was happy with but here are the results of the hard labour, these are straight out of the mould with a near mirror finish.

lol had messages already off facebook about people wanting some, they are very difficult to do, with high insight I should of cut the door cards after i made the inserts so that they would be more snug, I would also have made the inserts another 10mm deeper with a taper so that they were actually sandwiched into the cut out.

hi bert, no mate as totally stretched at the moment with the new house, motorsport commitments and just getting started with pro kart racing so time is literally non existent at the moment.

Wiraxr2, it actually took 4 moulds to get to this stage and ive not charged you for the extra carbon work, if a customer wanted to have the parts exclusively for them selves then they need to purchase the mould ie pay for the materials and labour involved. If you want to pay for the mould then im more than happy to work the price out and send the mould tro you with all the other bits, but price would be around the 200 - 250 mark due to the amount of time spent on it.

I cant see the market being flooded with these if im honest, had a few inquiries but mainly people want the panels on their own to fit them selves.

No Worries, I probably don't have enough funds right now for it but when you do sort out a mold I will probably have one off you but I'm in no rush at the moment.

Small update on a project I am working on for a drag car, making so wide arches so they can run a wider tyre to increase grip. Managed to knock the first one up the other week, im very happy with how they have turned out, weave is perfect and go a great shine straight from breaking it out of the mould. My fiesta arches will be very similar to these as im now changing from series x.

Considered it myself.
But I think a kit would be prohibitively expensive.
8 moulds for the main kit.
Another 3 for the boot spoiler. Could be made as one.
But ideally needs to be taken when on the car as the kit is so flimsy when off the car.
So access to a car with a perfectly fitted and condition kit.

I doubt you'll get change from £1k.
Don't get me wrong, on the right car would look awesome.
Just expensive for so little gain.
:(

I'd rather see mk2 Ghia/xr2 bumpers instead.

But for weight savings on a mk2. Bonnet and boot.
Rust prevention. Boot floor and rear panel.

Jason.

a carbon fibre xr2 kit would be awesome but like Jason said would be very expensive, I don't think I could justify it.

Don't think it would be that expensive. I think with everyone wanting one and doing a big group buy it would bring the price down a lot. Plus someone being kind enough to donate and prep the parts as much as poss. So makes rajs work less
Plus I was thinking more of the arches, side skirts, front and rear bumpers and rear 3 piece spoiler. Leaving out the front and rear aprons.
I'm sure Raj already has a spoiler in the making for a certain person. So if tbat person would let it be used to help with the costs, that would also bring the costs down.
Raj would have to give us a price. Tbf.

I recon the kit would have to be moulded on the car.
The xr2 kit is really flimsy when not fitted to the car and its shape changes.
If the mould is off slightly, then the kit won't fit properly and would look terrible.
Making the kit useless.
Remember, carbon fibre is usually more ridged when moulded than the plastic xr2 kit is.

Can't have an xr2 kit without the front and rear bibs. It's pointless. :(

The mk1 xr2 kit on the other hand is a different kettle of fish. The mk1 kit is made of more sturdy plastic.
That I recon you could mould that off of the car.

8 moulds would be expensive. I recon you're looking at about £10-£15 a mould in materials alone. At cost.
Plus labour.

Carbon fibre?
Either two layers with a core or perhaps 4-8 layers of carbon.
Plus consumables for each mould pull.

I dunno. Have to ask Raj. But I don't expect it could be made for any less than £700 but nearer £1k realistically when considering all the work necessary to get the kit smooth and tip top before you can even consider taking a mould.
Which discounts using the vast majority of xr2 kits to take a mould from as most have orange peeled and gone rough.

Jason.

Small update, been on about making a mould for this for a while and managed to free up a few hours to knock one up, you should know what they are from the pics, just spending a bit of time now prepping the mould and getting a nice shine to it then I should have the first pair done for the weekend.

Managed to spend a bit more time on my own projects again, started blasting and coating the adjustable custom front arms for my fiesta in my custom graphite poly power, really love the colour of these.
