I've got a mk2 Cortina bonnet here that would benefit from the same process. :)
If you fancy one to practice on. Lol.

Umm.
And a boot lid.
And 4 doors.
A CF roof would be nice too as mine has a small dent..

:)

On a serious note.
If you do a blue cf bonnet for wirra, let me know..
I'm interested with having a blue cf one for the Tina.
I think we've spoken about it before.

Jason.

well its been a while since I last updated, been mad busy as usual, had a nice little job in for Wiraxr2 which is coming along nicely, as he has been very patient and allowed me to drag this job out as a result of other commitments I thought it was only fair to do a bit extra for him, in this case some nice custom door cards which are to incorporate infused carbon fibre inserts. This is a long winded task to get the finish required but an enjoyable one none the less, here are some pics for anyone interested.

Standard door card

Now to cut the existing insert out

First plugs to get the process started

Here is the first mould which will allow me to produce grp inserts which can then be polished to a fine shine which in turn can be remoulded.

Here are the fibreglass parts made from the first mould which have been flatted and polished and prepped ready to be remoulded

And now the tooling gelcoat

Don't mind that it's taking so long Raj. Well maybe  maybe a gesture of goodwill could be made by a reduction in price :blub: lmao.
Just jokes mate.
I knew you were busy and it was my choice to send it you as it did me a favour, getting it all out my way out of the dining room and getting the Mrs offy back lol.
Thx for the work your doing. All the pics look top quality that u sent me as usual. Carry on. Can't wait to get it all back and take it for an mot

cheers chaps :-)

first layer of reinforcement went down onto the mould last night so will put a few more on tonight. Hopefully it should be ready to go for the weekend, Wira I could do with getting a fair few of the parts already done sent out to you this week, as once they are flocked they are difficult to store. Drop me a message when you can with your address and I will get them sent.

Well another small update, whilst working on the carbon insert moulds I have managed to complete all the black parts of this custom xr2 interior.

Here is the 2 tone clock dismantled
Image

The heater controls had to have the plastic welds drilled out to allow them to be removed
Image
Image
Image

Now it was time to prep, key and primer the parts ready for mounting onto the jigs ready for flocking
Image

Here are some images of the flocked parts, im really please with the custom triple gauge holder which has been hand crafted and smoothed in. I think its turned out nice, sorry about the quality of the pics but my phone seems to be struggling to focus

well bit more progress on the custom door cards, made a parts from the last mould but im wasnt happy with the mould finish and its virtually impossible to polish it being recessed, so ive made another grp set but gone down with finer grit

straight out of the mould, you can see the finish is dull and a few marks from the release agent, these will polish out but that involved extra labour which kills the product profit, these need to be pretty much finished as soon as they are broken out of the mould.

Image
Image

just finished with 2000 grit and had the first pass with the polish, this will give you an idea of the finished item. Even the grp has come up a treat
Image
Image
Image

both done,

I have changed my mind on doing 2 from the same mould as these aere a little tricky to break out so dont want to stress the carbon. The new mould will be a single part production, double the work but the final product should make it worth it.

The final mould should be done for the weekend. Soon be back with you Wirra

holes sized and drilled symetrically
