I think if that car does ever materialise Paul you'll have trouble getting the 45's perfect turbocharged!

Dave.

How do you work that one out dave?

You see this is why i havent previously posted my spec, cos there is always some smart-arse that will try and put it down. Saying that, i think most will agree that dave cant even post a cheque let alone get his run-of the mill rst engine running properly so it dont really bother me.

There is absolutely no reason why this method wont work...why do you think weber made IB152 type carbs?...because they are designed to be turbocharged  .
Before fuel injection technology was around this is how cosworth used to run their turbocharged engines.

fiecos dan: The only reason i am using 45's is cos i had them from my previous engine build mate, back when it was destined to be naturally aspirated! but i cant see any reason why 45's would be any more difficult to setup than 40's.

Rolls: Thats the plan anyway mate, try and get an easy 250, then go and spend yet more pennys on fully mappable ignition and go for the big 300!...but thats way, waaaay in the future now . (got to get the mk1 finished first!)

No, aslong as it's all presurised and jetted correctly. Then 'in theory' there should be no problems running a turbo on 45's.

It's something I've been investigating myself as a possible future project.

There is no 'in theory' about it, its a tried and tested method.

LOL @ some of the comments on this post...oh dear oh dear...I was going to add a small turbo to my first XR2's engine believe it or not but on that spec we would of only been able to run a few psi so decided not to bother...Good luck Paul...not that you need it as you have clearly done your homework!

If you have trouble getting a block I can probably sort that! ;)

...Mines now safely tucked away till things "kick off" again in the new year by that time there will be a new NMS worked inlet manifold, Hayward & Scott one off bigger bore Exhaust and if time / money permits a Quaife box and a quick rack...then I really must curb the spending!

PS. I know its not turbo'd....yet ;) lol

mine is still in the garage still no where near completion!!
I have the majority of the bits
im going to finalise a spec out of the bits I have lying around!!
FRST ofac management
2wd cossie IC
large front mount alloy IC (similar to rolls current one)
FRST gearbox with LSD
s1 gearbox with LSD
diesel gearbox with LSD (need to build this if I go with this idea)
ported Hemi head
t3 turbo
t2 turbo
K&N
samcos

4wd cossie front brakes
rear disc brakes

apparance wise not started on yet - most probably VW jazz blue with white cage, race seats, white MOs, twin lights and carbon type dash board.

im looking to buy a mk2 xr2 with 12months MOT and in decent nick to transplant the FRST running gear into for short term fun as the body work and respray on mine will take ages with my other commitments.

Im currently big time running out of time and weather to get my new garage that ive been putting off and off as its quite involved. without this im goign to struggle to get further with my stuff.

PS - paul, why dont you use your old block that you built? thought it had the decent s1 crank and was all sorted ready to go? just need to swap pistons and get a oil return sorted???

Its a bit more complicated than that, that engine had quite a few trick bits in it, afraid i cant disclose, but it needs to be used n/a.

I think i've sourced a block now anyway ( phil!) so as long as all goes well i can pick it up and get started!

Melv, why would you want two turbos mate?

lol, and i'm hoping i've already got 110! well, i reckon i would if i actually got it RR'd and setup right!

I want a turbo, but i also wanna carry on using my engine! Soo in reality i wanna go TT! lol

but FRST would be the best way to go...

But then Foster might convice me to to chuck in a ERST engine in, cos apparently it's not hard to do ;) (well, if u wanna leave it std!)

But what i really want is some money... and the bodywork minted (the bodywork you can't actually see that is!)

I also wanna make the bonnet in my other thread. oh, and quad lights!

not much then!
