wayne, you dont need to cut the x-member for a t3, i havent have i ;)
its the metering head that should worry you, along with the battery, altough if i can get my welder soon, that may not be a problem ;)

if you do want to cut it, have a look at the cross member and you'll see a recess in about the right place where the down pipe is..Just use the recess as a guide, and cut about half of it back.. Do the sides at an angle to retain a bit more strength...

As for metering unit etc, rip the battery tray out and weld it in the boot... far more room then!!

Chris :)

Yup, Saab. Or an Escort one that's been attacked with a hammer. Anyone remember the blue ( Danish? ) XR2 that was at FordFair 02?

MIne downpipe is not a ford original part, but an aftermarket replacement- its welded at a slight angle, rather than going straight down- just needed a slight tap with a hammer ( not not a battering lol!!!!) for it to have enough clearance for it to be used. With out the hit, it would clear, but only just- now there is a tiny ( and i mean tiny) gap between the 2. However, i have got competeion engine moutns, which are solid so that the engine does not move one bit!!

Mines had the crossmember chopped and welded, so it was pretty easy to make an erst exhaust fit, well had to do abit of chopping at the back end but from the turbo to near the rear box was a perfect fit :D

Sorry mate, no piccys I'm afraid, but I can explain because it was pretty easy, in fact if you can wait a few days I'm taking the engine out this week so I can take some pics then and show you what I did. Basically I just sliced a piece out of the section between the headlights just wide enough for the cooler, there's about 2mm gap each side, then just made some supports to re-enforce the panel. I'll get pics as soon as I can mate :D
