ok ok, the mr2 is quicker, but theres one thing crucially wrong

they put the engine in the wrong end...

seriously though, i been in an mr2 and it was rapid, but the handling was well dodgey. i dunno if its the case with all of them but this was very twitchey and even i could feel from the passenger seat - it was about to change dirrection if you pushed it a tiny bit to far.

nice cars though.

it dont add up.

you claim 220+ striped xr2 =mid 13's@110ish+ not 14.7@100

cos mine @just under 200bhpxr2t +steario+toolbox+girlfriends stuff= 2*14.0@101mph

so yours most of only runnin 150-165bhp, so thats why your mr2 will feel faster.

Nah his fiesta was more than what your saying power wise without a doubt...those times were at brunters which was slightly up hill...I beleive the majority of people that attended that ran on that day that then ran at york race way went upto .5sec quicker...and just becuase you have more power certainly does not mean your quicker over a 1/4 there are countless cases where people get there times down and down and there power goes up and up...and then they go more power and more power and there times either stay the same or go up!!! I have seen it happen with my own eyes so you cant work it out how you are...

i only ran the car up the strip a few times, then decided to get shot of it.... Traction was the main issue, like any xr2t's.... Never run an official 1/4 at santa pod or anything, only at Brunters with proper timing equipment. (+ it was uphill!)

Its not so much of a claimed 220hp, it was a proven with graphs..... Not sure if you had read the spec/seen feature in PF etc, but 150hp!! pmsl!!!

As people who know me will tell you, if I dont think my / a car is fast, i'll admit it. I'm not one for saying something is fast when its not. I could quite happily say that the MR2 is quicker topend than my old St3 Escort Cossie... Fook knows why as the escy was rr'd at 349hp.... over 70hp more, but I can guarantee it was.....

Stu, your right mate, the MR2 is very twitchy, but once you get used to it its fine!! Doesn't pop driveshafts out like the fes did!! If I thought it was slow etc i'd sell it....

Chris

granted about the time, and we all know your mr2 will have a better topend than the xr2t, as mine redlines in 5th at about 135-145mph in real life, but when i talk about quickness i ment how fast it can get there.
and sorry your time woz 14.85@99, a few peoples told me its up hill, but so is the pod, but ive alsoknown peeps to match or better there times at Bruntingthorpe.
i aint dissin as your xr2t woz wicked and quick, but u should of used the wheel spin as a task, as its wicked to get rite, and match m3's and other quick off the line cars in a 15+ year old car. shame u strip it b4 you got your runs down.
as i sed on the power, in your feature, you think the car woz 200bhp, nothin about rr ed figures with that engine in the set up in the xr2t. so its still heresay.

fair one what your saying dude... the feature does say 200+hp.... no rr graph when it was in the fes but have the graph when the engine was in the S2 RST....

Not sure about topend of the fes, as my speedo was reading 155/160 when on the timing gear I was doing 133.**... (cant remember!), and the the times were slightly wrong.. I did do a quicker 1/4 / 0-60 on a different stretch at Brunters but they didn't use the times to keep in line with the others... (terminal was 104 on this occasion)

Shame I did strip it your right, would've been nice to get the times down etc etc, but other interests etc etc made me do it!! The next one will be n/a but possibly thinking about going nos.....

I think Dave got the 6.1 when he had the photoshoot for PF. I think the spec was the same, and I think he matched the time at the thrash.... Truly quick n/a car, and round the track his was a weapon, even keeping up with cossies/passing them on the bends!!!

Chris ;)

Yup thats right got the 6.1 with the Race logic box that PF use when it was featured...was a bit dissappointed at the thrash as I only got 6.3 but I suppose there is a bit of consistency in that...both times were done on normal Falken crappy tyres...I now run Avon ACB10 tyres and these are MUCH more grippy so expect I can get into the 5's so will be trying to do so next season time permitting...and yes same spec as the thrash mate. :)

some very interesting points here chaps !!!!
Gota say, having been in chris's car that it was a bloody animal- i went out in it at brunters, and the speedo was reading well over 150, despite his recorded top speed.

Also, grip was defo a problem, there was no doubt aboutb the potential of it- the huge induction roar was awesome ;)

also remeber ben saying that it went quicker, but couldnt take the time as it was 9on a different bit of track to where everyone's was done.

what dave said is also true- i got a 16.5 at brunters (pmsl at that time, lol)
went down to 15.5 @ york, and then down to 15.22 at brunters when i went there again- all at the same spec, just replacing thew act sensor as it was causing the ingintion to cut out :(
Should be verry interesting next year, that for sure ;), esp if w can arrange another thrash, eh dave ;)

yeah, when mine tops out in 5th= the needle is just past the H in mph on my speedo, i also run a rs box wiv 195/45/15 tyres, redline at 6.2k rpm. when i pass the quarter mark at the pod my speedo read bang on 110mph, as pods gear sed i woz doin 101= approx 10% out.
what rpm woz you at when clocked 133mph?

cant remember what rpm was.... I've got the top speed run on *.avi file so will have a look and see if I can see the rev counter on it.... Both rev and speedo weren't standard clocks. Tyres were also 195/45/15.....

I had mine rolling roaded 2 days before the thrash and got 200bhp WITH graphs and it was clear to anybody at the thrash that Chris' was defo faster than mine so 220bhp is a sensible quote, do yourself a favour and don't tell other people what power their cars are because its offensive

I wasn't trying to be childish about it, I was pointing out that when someone says " my car is Xbhp" it can be offensive to turn round and say "no it isn't"
I'm not having a go at Fiecos Dan, Chris or anybody else
So if I have been offensive in trying to point out what is offensive then appologies

well rolls, 94 term mph is about rite for a xr2t runnin 160-70= 140-5bhp at wheels, a car power can differ 10% from rollin road to rollin road, as its a known fact that power engineerin road gives well hi readins, and power stations in glos are low, but interpro's are about rite.
where did yours get 145 @ wheels?
also what car woz trey's
