Hello folks,

I didn't want to rude and hijack oversteer's thread but I'm currently asking myself very similar questions.

I've struggled for a couple of months now try to get my MFI set up main reason is tuners just don't want to know anymore. This came to head today after forking out 300 quid to have it up just for the twating thing to sh!t its self every time it comes on boost. The problem being the metering head just gose lean and won't fuel properly. So it's gonna have to go I think, my first thoughts were to get hold of the efi set that oversteer has got but again they all as old as god and an unknown quantity. So whilst down at me local scrappy this afternoon their on the floor is a complete 1.8 zetec on the floor 100 quid.

There's a local engine builder to who is an DTA agent and has said 500 for the ECU and 200 for a custom made loom so I'm thinking fit my turbo but just run maybe half a bar boost ? I think there are after market supercharger kits that bolt onto high compression standard zetecs and just run low boost.
And make 250bhp.

I was quite happy with the S1 motor and a stage 1 chip so what do you think ? High comp motors but low boost ? Any help/advice would be appreciated

Cheers

Adder

I don't think a standard 1.8 on standard compression is gonna see 250hp. I maybe wrong

My honest advice having had MFI Turbo, converted it to EFI turbo and now onto Zetec turbo:

Fit the EFI inlet and CPS on your good CVH engine and put it on microsquirt then have it set up.

Being megasquirt, you will be able to have that mapped pretty much anywhere and it will be far less work, money and upheaval to get the car sorted than going zetec.

Yup.
What little I know about turbo..
If I were to build one, I'd go efi.

Then you can run fiesta turbo setup or megasquirt, DTA etc....
A lot more choice and easier to set up for fueling as it's all electronic.

Thanks for your replies fellas,

I've made my mind up and bought a 1.8 Zetec. There's plenty of Grasstrack lads racing on low boost with normal comp engines so I'm going to give it go.

Cheers
