Hi all,

Just fitted an RS Turbo engine to the XR2, its the type with the metering head etc. Now I bought it as a complete bolt in package but need some help etc:

1 : Fuel Accumulator - Don't appear to have one, is it needed?
2 : Intercooler - Whats best to use?
3 : Cooling pipe work - Shall I plum it in like the XR2 motor? Obviously adding the oil cooler pipe instead of the XR2 head pipe (goes to same place) but there is a pipe going to a sensor on the rear (is this coolant?) and there seems to be a cast bend on the back of the engine for what looks like cooling pipes but doesnt look important?
4 : Does the turbo need the water cooling? If so could I loop the thermostat return pipe through it and back to the header tank?

And finally for now, anyone got a good guide on where all the little pipes go! :p

Hi mate here's my build thread if it helps. I would use the accumulator and there's stacks of info about Fmic's . By what you are describing I think the elbow under the inlet manifold will need teeing into one of the heater matrix pipes.

Hope this helps

Questions aren't that clear but

Plumb in the cooling the same way it is in the escort, everything needs to be connected
You do need a fuel accumulator
You can use any intercooler
Turbo can be safely run without watercooling

Also is there anything massively different cooling layout wise other than the turbo?

There's some extra stuff round the back of the head, I'd just look at an ERST and plumb it all in exact the same except (If you're not water cooling your turbo) you can use a non turbo top rad hose and you can block off the water return on the side of the radiator (If you're using an ERST radiator).

If you're using some sort of front mount like many people do you might be able to use your old radiator so long as you can get boost pipes around it. Been a long time since I've looked at a Fiesta :(

Hi dude, I went over garage today and plumbed it all in as per my crude drawing below:

Also whats this item for? :

Image

It has a pipe coming out of it which goes to inlet manifold. Then another pipe which ends just short of the head.. Goes to no where?

This is how i did mine there might be a better way but iv had no over heating problems, the cars heater has been all good

OK so starting from the bottom hose, i tee'd into the heater hose and sent one to the header tank and one towards the inlet manifold.

Image

Here's a pic showing the header tank pipe and the pipe going towards the inlet manifold

Image

Now tee into the inlet manifold pipe and send one to the heater matrix and one side of the ally elbow you have shown in your pic.

Image

Now from the other side of the ally elbow that points downwards, pipe up to the oil cooler

hope this helps

Right got most of that sorted, onto the wiring :

Hi guys, stuck on two bits of my wiring on my conversion. The green wire that goes to the supressor by the coil, one comes from ECU straight to coil, then one comes from coil to supressor then where does the green wire go?

Also I got one wire coming out of the ECU plug, its green and brown and its just in my loom spare. I cant find the pin numbers on the ECU plug so its hard for me to find any info about it? Is there a diagram of the plugs with numbers?

Thanks!

Im reading it as : Connect the Black and Green wires on RS Turbo loom onto the XR2 coil wiring as well?

Also it says fuel pump + on the pink relay, is that the fuel pump feed or does it connect to a fuel pump feed I add?
