FRST EFi CVH engine

My air intake hose is pulling the bottom off the breather pot. There's 3 hoses running to it, large'ish one straight from the top left of the head, second smaller one goes through a one way valve, again looks to go to the head. Third one is supposed to recirculate back into the airbox, but I'm running a homebrew intake hose

Breather = f*cked now

Am I OK to get a generic breather pot off the Bay with three outlets, one to one way valve, other to left of head and stick a small filter on third to vent to atmosphere?

Cheers

Try to get an ERST bailey breather they are much better than the FRST ones.

How have you diagnosed the breather you've got as f*cked? Have you removed all the breathers and cleaned them out?

If you take the oil cap off with the car running does your engine blow out of the cap? (most do due to ring wear) If it does and you fit a setup like you mention your little breather will clog up with oil in no time and your car will stink of oil whilst driving it.

Cool - will check them out. I guess if there's any additional pipe outlets I can just stick a mini K+N on them and let it vent to atmosphere? My sump's been drilled and welded for an oil return

Nah, what's happened is that to try and get the air filter and pipe in so that the bonnet closes I had to move the intake pipe up, which pulled the third hose down - this hose is clamped to the bottom of the breather pot, and when there was too much pull it ripped the bottom of the breather pot off. I've superglue'd it but it's just a bodge til I can get something proper sorted

Engine's clean, rebuilt about 3000 miles ago with new or recon everything so shouldnt have a problem there, touchwood

Think I'll try the Bailey type option and see how I go, cheers for the tip

Like I say if you have pressure in your rocker cover I wouldn't fit one of them little filters as it will be trying to chug oil vapour out of it which will block it in no time. In the past I've ran an open ended pipe down into the inner wing to let the vapours vent down the pipe. You'll end up with oil building up in your inner wing but it won't rust out :blub:

Like your plan, might put it to brake discs, stop 'em rusting :D

Regardless I think I'm going to bin off the idea of venting back to the air intake/turbo, doesnt seem like a good idea to have oil in/around there. Just BIN'd an ERST Bailey on the bay, cheers again for that
