This may be a stupid question as iv read a lot about usind swirl pots but is it possible to run an erst mfi engine in my mk2 fez without using a swirl pot and using a standard rs turbo fuel pump as I'm not planning on running stupid amounts of fuel?

A swirl pot isn't needed because it runs stupid amounts of fuel, it's needed because the pump requires a constant supply of fuel. When going round a corner a with a low fuel level in the tank all the fuel swishes to the side, and the fuel pump starves. A swirl pot simply ensures there's always a constant supply to the pump.

The way around fitting a swirl pot is to simply always ensure there's a good amount of fuel in the tank i.e. Never let it drop below half. But that's not really a practical solution.

That's wha I was thinking but my gaffer is trying to tell me totally different.. I'm going to use a swirl pot but would you need to run a fuel pump to the swirl pot the another from the swirl pot and what pumps would I have to use? Sorry to be a pain as its my first conversion apart from a normal 1.6 carb which was quite straight forward

Yep, you need to use a lift pump to pump the fuel from the tank to the swirl pot. A low pressure, basic pump is fine for this.

Then you need a high pressure, RS Turbo fuel pump to go from the swirl pot to the front of the car.
