I have bought myself a Silvertop 2 litre Zetec engine, and also just bought a standard mk1 focus rs manifold.

Im now in need of a turbo!

Standard sized focus rs turbo will do me fine, im not chasing big power, I think it is a GT2560LS

I have seen them on ebay for £200 new .. but surely this is too good to be true, and won't last 2 minutes or won't fit!?

What is the going price for these turbo's? and where can I buy one from?
Would even consider second hand if it was in good condition!

Thanks :cool!:

they won't be proper gt25 turbo's for £200, thy'll just be a t25 with journal bearings not ball bearings.
new they are around £800 ish, second hand maybe £250.

Thanks mate :)

I deffo wouldn't be able to spend £800 on a new turbo unfortunately, would make the turbo conversion very costly and I would rather buy a golf gti or s3 lol

I guess I will have to find a decent second hand turbo.

Or .. what your opinion on the ebay turbo's .. I will be running standard boost and that's it.

Just get a second hand one, thats what i did but ended up needing reconditioned which was £400. Still cheaper than a new one but not exactly cheap.

A t25 off a rover turbo fits on the focus rs manifold with a nissan turbo elbow. Much cheaper but not as good really.

ebay turbo's have never lasted for me, you push a BAR and a half and they tend to die, in my experience anyhow.
second hand frs turbo is the way to go, check out passionford, always some popping up there.

hmm soo much for trying to keep the price sensible!! lol

What other turbo options do I have? as in, what else fits onto the FRS manifold .. I will be hoping to use a FRS decat if it makes any difference

FRS downpipe only really fits the FRS turbo. You could get an adapter to fit it to a "normal" 5 bolt flange but this would probably be effort that is was worth.

Anything with a T2 flange will fit but the inlet will be square instead of round and the bolts/studs may be a different size. You will probably need to modify/make a downpipe to fit.

After looking into costs I was put off by the prices ..

Although I spoke to a guy at CR Turbo Engineering yesterday at Ford Fair and he said that they sell the GT25 turbos for £395 + VAT = £474
This is for a re-conditioned turbo although it comes with a 12 month warranty

Most turbo places put a surcharge ontop if you don't sent them an old turbo as they usually reuse the housings. I would ask if that price includes the surcharge, if it does that sounds like a good deal.
