I bought a new engine for my RS2000, a 200+bhp 2.3 so my original lump will be free. I thought about selling it on but now im starting to think what a wonderfull idea it would be to shoe horn it into my XR2.

My old engine was dynoed at 170bhp so thats gotta be fun in an XR, Keep you posted on the progres.

This is what power my mk1 will be running, but with the 2.3 bottom end

Are you going to be using the 2.3 Mazda Derived Duratec? I think there getting over 250bhp with those in Caterams etc, massive power. The only unknown is if there is space, the head should just fin under the bonnet if I add some bulges aka mk5 RS2k but I really dont know if there is enough space for the injection system. I might have to get creative there lol. My 2.3 was built by HT Racing and on a modified plenum made 194 bhp and shed loads of torque, I will be adding throttle bodies to the mix so that figure should go up somewhat.

The engine currently in mine is a proven 170bhp and as my XR is stripped to the bone, it should be rapid, but I need to replace the old rear beam and ARB as its all rusty and weak so the back end rolls a hell of a lot which isnt great for stability.
