Are we talking Mk2? Is it out of alignment left to right, or dipping down at the front? If it the first, loosen off the nuts, thenpack the gap between the wings and the bonnet with something of uniform thickness (thin wood, card etc, I used spare blind slats) and then tighten the bolts up. If its sagging then you'll need to bend the hinges back. They did away witht eh square rubbers on later cars as they were a water trap, you can get a pair of the wind it bonnet raisers easy enough on the bay. Think mk3 fiesta/mk5 escort ones may fit as well although they may be slightly taller.

Its left to right hugely and a bit of sag too when i open the bonnet it springs to the left about half an inch iv managed to get it to line up bolt it up but as soon as i open it again it just springs back the same way

As for the rubbers i think thats whats causing my sag slightly as its high on one side low on other think having the rubber would stop it dropping on one side which i think is causing the other side to be high i could be wrong though

Pretty sure ford fitted one or the other type of rubber.
Not both at the same time.
Early cars have the blocks down the wing
Latwr cars have the round screw in ones.
