Just built up my CVH head and need to set the valve clearances. Using Newman cam with solid lifters but the info sent only gives valve clearance figures with no procedure, and disappointingly, Newman haven't replied to my e-mail.

So does anybody here know what needs doing? Is it just the old 'rule of nine' or something else?

Send a PM to Zak - pretty sure he has used these.

Theyr a pain in ass and can take ages. You fit them and measure, removed and adjust in the vice as you can't do it in place then refit and measure again usually repeating these steps around 5 times per lifter. Obviously use saw jaws in the vice as you don't want to damage the sides of the lifter. Newmans do sell a tool speciality to hold them while you loosen, adjust and re tighten them.

Yeah! Dave Moore ran one of these on his cvh.
I remember him saying it was a pain due to the multipul adjustments.

Hope you're not doing this on a zetec.
:(

Jason.

Thanks guys. Phoned Newman and they don't have a procedure as such. Said to set valve to full lift, then rotate camshaft 180 degrees and adjust clearance on that valve.

On it today. Managed to get three done in the morning...

Definitely a faff about, but worth it if I don't have to replace the camshaft in six months.

They arent too bad once youve done it a few times. I give mine a yearly check/re-gap for good measure. But then i was changing the entire cam setup every 6 months with Kent/Newman hydraulics so having the solid setup and a yearly check is fairly easy going :D
