No.
They are more like 1.1 shafts.
Same goes for 1.3 cvh fiesta shafts too.

Xr2 long shaft is unique to the xr2

Yes. Mk2 1.3 and 1.4's are CVH.
I'm not 100% sure if they all got a 5 speed as standard.
I think they did.
But it was certainly an option if they didn't.

The 5 speed was only ever an option on the 1.1 and never a standard fit item as far as I know.
The 1.0 was never offered with a 5 speed box.

But as said.
The xr2 long shaft was only ever fitted to the xr2.
Shafts did not differ between 4 and 5 speed box fiesta's ( other than the xr2 which was only ever a 5 speed in the mk2 ).
:)

No. The 1.4/1.3 shaft is unique to the 1.4/1.3. Being an equal length shaft with the bearing in the middle.
Quite like the mk1 xr2 shaft.
In fact early 1.3/1.4 models had mk1 Xr shafts

Ah!. I thought only the Mk1 had the equal shaft thingy?
Obviously not.

The 1.4 I test drove had a single piece shaft.
Must have been changed at some point.

Nope. Got 3 1.4's lol all
Have the equal length shaft with centre bearing.
The early one has mk1 shafts. Which I though had been changed. But it's not the only I've come across with mk1 shafts.

The one I drove must havery had the shaft changed then.
"Mine" was a single shaft.

I do understand that the brackets do sometimes 'go'.
So that could be why.

Either way.
'Tis good to get this info out there.
:)

Thanks for all the info, the brain is getting overloaded think I am getting old
All I would like to do is to fit a 1600cc engine not sure if cvh or crossflow depends on what is available to my MK1 1100cc 4 speed box, happy to stay with the 4 speed box, would like to make sure I purchase the correct parts I need, thanks

I think things get a bit more complicated when fitting cvh and zetec lumps along with 5 speed boxes vinto the mk1.

So besdt to ask the mk1 boys what the best course of action is there.

Crossflow :
a mk1 you can use mk1 xr2/mk1 1300 shafts or mk2 long one piece driver's shaft( base or xr2) and mk1 xr2 short pass shaft
Zetec:
you can use any mk2 long one piece shaft ( base or xr2) as the zetec has no place for a 2 piece bracket on the block and mk1 xr2 short pass shaft
don't know about cvh 2 piece if they are same as mk1 xr2 or not but they must be very scarse now anyway .
4 or 5 speed in a mk1 makes no difference to shaft selection as long as it's a bc box ,only 5 speed needs inner wing chopping and tiebar bending .
