Hi all,

Although I've had the car a few weeks now, I don't have an owners manual but just wondered what the 'L' on my auto gearbox selector is for?

Cheers

Pete

Aha! I recon so, I just couldn't think what L meant, all the other auto's I've driven have all had 1,2,3 gear on the gear change (as well as the usual letters but not L ).

Think Jason is right.
Doesn't it go. L,1,2,3 D
Sometimes though they go L,2,3,D

Mine doesn't, it's (from the top) P,R,N,D,L.

I suppose in theory all I had to do was put it in L and find out what it did :drive: but being a little unsure I didn't want to blow anything up, never driven a CVT gearboxed car before either and it's a strange experience.

I think you'd be OK trying it.
Just find a quiet road.

Chances are it doesn't stand for LEVITATE though so I'm sure it'll be safe.
:)

Edit..
Launch control. Lol. Didn't think of that!

It stands for lock(which stops the wheels going round and acts as a parking brake) you can start car in this mode

Yup!
Just test it away from trees, tunnels and not on stormy nights either!

That's P for park. L could be for low gear!

Yep. I read that and thought it didn't make sense.

Especially.. Why have lock right next to drive.
Would be dangerous if you changed from drive right into lock at speed.
Isn't that why normally it goes...

Park.
Reverse
Neutral.
Drive.
2.

I bloody well hope it's not a lock as it's right next to drive, if that got accidentally slipped into lock whilst driving then imagine the size of the skid marks, on the road and in my pants :cool!:

:D

It's not, haha. I have a 1.1 auto myself although not much experience driving it, ive put the engine and gearbox to one side in the garage and put something a bit newer and manual in.

L for low gear. It holds the transmission in a low gear for going down steep hills.

Probably the most precise answer so far :cool!:

Although I was beginning to think it meant 'Lunatic'
