Hi all,

My auto fezza has an annoying stiff throttle, it's only the very first part when you start to put your foot down, after that it's fine, the problem is because it's an auto when you're trying to level park it or are in a traffic queue and all you want is a little bit of power to just roll the car back or forward then it lurches, someone suggested that because it's an auto it has a few return springs because of the extra long throttle bar and the kick down mechanism, I might have to see if anythings stiff at the pedal end or if it has an over strong spring down their, it's just really annoying as it seems to spoil the driving experience as well, it needs to be light and be able to progressively feed the throttle without all the jerkyness.

Any pointers please.

Cheers

Pete

Change the cable and sleeve.
Often the cable either frays or rusts in the sleeve.
Change both.

Jason.

I had a little investigation today and I think it might be the pedal itself (it could also be the cable as Jason suggests) the pivot seems very loose on the bracket (it looks like the holes are bigger than the pin) and it seems to move around a bit when pushed down, I've found another pedal and bracket that was cheap on Ebay and will see if that is either tighter or I will make up a new pivot pin and modify both so it is tighter (I have a few very small roller bearings I used on another project a few years ago and some matching stainless steel bar) but will hopefully be smoother when used.

Cheers

Pete

It'll be the cable, happened to new a few times over the years.
Get a genuine cable though if you can, after market aren't always good enough.

Is an automatic gearbox cable the same length as a manual?

Pete

Probably not.
I have cables off of various mk2's and almost all of them are different lengths.
