HI,

I need some new panels for my car, front panel , both wings and rear arches i'm thinking of buying them myself from eBay and preping to protect them before I pay a body shop to fit them.

What do I need to do if anything before getting the body shop to fit them as they will be on the car for about a year before I get a respray and don't want them to rust in that time and is it likely to save me much?

Cheers

Panels come in a black paint to protect them.
I had a front panel and wing like this for a good two or more years before i did anything about it.
My intention was to get the car painted... Still haven't. Lol.

So they should be fine.

Jason.

I dont think the black paint they come in is up to much, its really just there to prevent rust forming whilst they are being stored. I would fully paint the panels (certianly the front wings) on both sides in etch primer and a top coat, plus a layer of stonechip inbetween those two coats on the inside. Then take the paint off on any areas where its going to be welded (right back to bare metal) a and then spray with a weld through primer on those areas.
