I changed the oil in my 1.1 at the weekend put in 10w40 shell helix fully synthetic but I have noticed that the oil light stay on for about 3 seconds when I start up now rather than a split second like before, is it anything to worry about? Car has done 67k and has been run of 10w40 for a few years now

I always use 15w 40 in ohv lumps.

I put 5w30 in once as it was empty.. Was a get me going option..
Smoked really badly and oil light stayed on longer as you've said.
Topped up with 15w40 and it was fine after that.

Mine doesn't smoke at all so i guess thats a good sign! have always used 10w 40 only difference this time is fully synthetic rather than semi so maybe it's slightly thicker.

Cheers

:eh:
Haven't the foggiest.

I just know that too thin an oil in a tired ohv will leak past the oil seals and rings and smoke!
5w30 ( what i put in the zetec ) is too thin for an ohv.
Or my ohv anyway!
