Hi all,

I've had some slight damage on my drivers seat bolster, the dark velour type material had worn through, fixed. I've had a upholsterer retrim it, he's replaced the panel but in plain grey fabric, and is great as a repair but I want it as it should be.

Does anyone have any recommendation of good upholstery who can fix with OEM or OEM looking fabric, or can get me the fabric?

Again it's the dark grey stretch velour type pieces from an 1983 mk1 xr2

Thanks a lot.
Andy

Try Aldridge trimmers.

They aren't cheap. But might have the cloth.
The other option is to find a cloth similar and replace all of the old cloth in that style with the new so it all matches.

Jason.

Depends on the seat....

I've tried to get s spare set of the blue seats in our Ghia. I can't find a set anywhere.
:(

Probably got a decent chance with a mk1 xr2 though.

Yes Jason more xr2 seats survive than cars to put them in , shame they didnt make the shells as durable
If its the red and black pinstripe material about 95% of cars seem to have left the factory with its easy to find but if the grey and white pinstripe like my early xr2 has that's a different matter !

Seems to be the same with mk2 seats.

Early seats are more difficult to find. Both Xr and none Xr. I think the early cloth nay have been thinner than the later stuff too.
Most early xr2 seats look baggy and the cloth looks thin. The later seats seem to wear a bit better.
I prefer the Monaco late Xr cloth to the earlier stuff too. Doesn't wash out like the earlier xr2 cloth does.

I will probably have to replace the none pattern cloth on the Ghia with something else similar as that had holed on the drivers seat. :(

Watch out for a passenger seat Jason as they tend to get less use to take the cloth from. :cool!:

These are the "rare " mk1 xr2 seats, you can just see the grey velour the op is talking about on the sides. :

Think those are "rare" trying finding a good set of these ,they dissolved in the sun !

I'll upload a picture later.

I've got a couple of sets of recaros that I am going to have a go at retrimming.
One set in Monaco xr2 cloth. Another in a black cloth with black vinyl backs and lower sides for the Cortina.
Not sure about the 3rd set yet. Either Monaco cloth or see if I have enough festival pattern cloth and do the centres in that for the festival.

Hopefully, most of this is useful information for moc.
He has an idea what his options are and what others have or may do who are in similar situations.
:)

Brill - thanks guys this has all been useful, couple of potions to go at.

It's not the main sat cloth that's my issue it's the dark valour type material on the top of the back and sides, I'll try to load some pics up.

not sure if it's going to be easier or harder to locate :)

Graham at GS Escorts has got a container full of seats in his yard, he's in Warrington and he left me digging round his yard for about 3 hours so im sure he'd have no problem with you looking through the seats

I've spoken to Graham on a number of occasions.
I own a Mk2 Cortina too ( project ), so get to speak to a lot of these guys for spares.

Not managed to make it up to see him yet.

Must remember to load those seat pictures.

Jason.
