Next Month I am doing a sprint at Castle Combe and I need to get some new tyres PDQ. Bear in mind i only do 1 3/4 laps at a time so they need to be grippy from cold.

I'm stuck choosing from a specific list from the MSA 1A list.

Choices in my price range are

Federal 595
Uniroyal Rain Sport 3
Yoko A539
Toyo T1R
Avon ZV3

Anyone used these and can comment on which ones would be best?

Thanks

Used the tr1s. Good tyre. Loads of grip but wear quickly
Only heard good things about the a549s
Think c8rwn is using zv3s on his xr

At the moment

Bear in mind its only a std 1100 engine in it. I am however planning on not using the brakes so need as much grip as I can get.

From what I've heard the tread blocks on A539 Yokos move around a lot in the dry

Not raced on any of those. I was tempted by the Federal or the toyo as a wet tyre for myself. Still not settled on one yet. The toyo however I have on my impreza. To be honest I preferred my old avon ZZ3's which has a very similar tyre tread.

And Jon I was on A048's great tyre but a list 1b tyre not 1a. Moving over to dunlops this season though

It looks like everyone is using the T1R on the hills and are £58ea, the Rainsports have the best grip rating out of all of them and are £48ea but the federals are only £36ea
