Hi all

Ok as usual someone in the past has fitted a cd player to my E reg mk2 xr2 and I want to fit the original but they have just cut the wires,now I have a connector block I got off a mate which fits the original radio cassette I have purchased but its not from a mk2 fiesta its from a mk4 escort I think and the leads coming out of it are

Brown=Earth
Yellow=Live
Both these wires are quite thick compared to the 3rd wire which is White

Now I know I need a 2nd live to attach to my red with blue stripe wire in the car but which is it on the radio I can get the radio to light up using the Brown and Yellow but don't want to take a chance and blow the radio so does anyone know the correct wiring for the radio?

Yes the brown and yellow is all
You need.
The red is permanent live so you don't loose your radio settings.
But to see if it works. Then all you need is the ignition live (yellow) and earth (brown)

Also why is there 4 male spade connectors on the radio 2 large live n earth so what are the smaller other 2 for?

Ok so I took a chance on which was the other live as you need this to show the display screen ie fm/am radio frequency and its the small male spade closest to the aerial.

So from the aerial side of my radio on my mk2 fiesta xr2 the wiring is

Aerial
Permanent live
Blank (not sure what plugs in here,electric aerial I think)
Live
Earth
