anyone had any problems with your rev counters after the conversion ?

Mine wont go past 4k revs, it just drops to 0 then bounces about a bit. sometimes it just sits at 0 untill I rev a little.

The rev counter was working fine before I put the zetec in.

wiring is fine, but should I have modded something to make it work properly ?

I'm having something similar happen, works fine constantly but its once over 6000rpm, it bounces about then sits at 0

Mine works fine, had no issues even though people said you will with EFi.

What ECU's are you using?

Weber Alpha.

I just reckon because it's going so high in the rev range, don't think a standard XR2 clock was ever meant to read over 6000rpm and my rev limiter is at 7250!

I'm pretty sure my mate connected 1 wire from the ECU to the rev counter, not sure myself, but Stu noted which one in his guide..

I've tried each wire that's spare off my dunnell ecu, but none of them seem to work.

I`ll try connecting direct to the coil pack as I connected my green rev counter wire to the ECU rev counter output.

No, not green on coil pack, existing loom "green" rev counter wire. ?

I am going to try this right now and get back with my results asap.

Just tried wiring onto the coilpack, tried both outer wires. No luck :(

Rev counter seems to be reading half of what it should be :( might be due to the wasted spark, im not sure.

Only option I can think of is to modify the existing rev counter, try to fit in the 2.0 rev counter or see If I can somehow connect the rev counter to either the CPS or cam sensor ?

Exactly what Ben said, just splice the wire from your rev counter into the wire coming out of pin 1 from your edis module, that sends the engine rev signal to the ecu.

Pretty sure its the green wire second from left in the pic below..

Image

That connects to the old wire the coil used to connect to.

I did plan on starting her up and unplugging it to see, but smelt fuel in the bay when i turned her on this time, joy oh joy a pin leak from a pipe...
so funnily enough i didnt start her!
