Hi all
I have a 2.0 blacktop with an Rs turbo flywheel (220mm I think)
What CPS do I need as I've searched around and I am
Lead to believe the standard 2.0 blacktop cps won't work?
Too long or too short? Not sure which

Any help appreciated
Cheers
Phil

I'm not sure if you can't use the 2.0 black top cps holder.
The issue. Certainly with the silvertop engines, is the automatic cps holder.
These point away from the cps cut outs on the manual flywheels.

So check if the engine had a manual or automatic flywheel fitted originally.

Jason.

Thanks for your reply.

Omex have reviewed my logs and say that there is too much noise and I causes the Ecu to reset.
I have an Rs turbo gearbox so the starter is at the front close to the CPS

So this may be my issues rather than the cps itself

Has anyone else used a front placed starter motor and gas issues with electrical noise??

Starter will have zero influence. Its not even moving when the engine runs so cant generate any field to cause interference.
And yes i run a front mount starter on RST box with silvertop CPS right above it - no issues. :)

Check the routing of your CPS wiring, make sure its not too near HT/Coilpack/Alternator as these are the big 3 that will be creating fields.

Has the CPS wire got the proper shielding on it?

+1.

I build megajolt looms and use propper shielded wire for the cps.
I did try a loom someone sent to me to sort out. That had standard unshielded wires to the cps.
The cps readings were all over the place!

My own current loom is a short loom that runs over the top of the gearbox and underneath the coil pack.
So about as much noise as you could get I'd imagine.

Otherwise. Check the voltage regulator on the alternator.

Jason.

Thanks all for the help!
The cps wiring is not shielded.

It's an Omex made loom but I do have the wiring for the cool pack and air flow sensor in the same plastic ducting, I'll shield it and separate it out I think!

Try wrapping it in kitchen foil.
Believe it or not that should work!
If not. Replace the cps wiring with shielded wiring.

I'm surprised omex supplied a loom like that!

Did you buy the loom direct from omex or second hand? My cps wiring is shielded on my omex loom, can't see any company that makes looms selling them without the cps wiring being shielded.

I've messed up and when inspecting the flywheel whilst the engine is at tdc the notch/double hole marker (tech term?? ) is at 1/4 turn away from the crank sensor!

I was told is was off an Rs turbo, maybe it is and off an escort? it's wrong either way

Can anyone tell me what will fit on a black too engine and align with the cps properly please
