I can't see it on yours.
So I'd guess it's blocked.

Is that why the blacktop has the sensor on the back of the head?

Can I use the Type 1/1B as above. Being a two pin can I use one pic for the existing wire and the second to earth it to the housing bolts?

Aslo my battery light stays on even with the key out of the ignition - I have read it could be the alternator, however the alt is brand new so surely that can be faulty already!!
