I know this topic gets brought up a ot and most of you are probably sick of answering the questions, however i just need some clarification.

I'm looking into the 2.0l zetec conversion and have started to buy the odd bits. However with the Blacktop zetec i understand there are some modifications to do. Am i right in saying;

I can use a 1.8 zetec waterpump to bolt on the 2.0l block - Does this need to be a blacktop 1.8
and the same with the oil sump - will the 1.6 Fiesta Si fit a blacktop

Thank you in advance

Frazer

Blacktop pumps all go the same way.

To fit a silvertop pump, you need machine work to open the impeller hole.
You usually use an idler pulley and a longer belt.

Sump doesn't need work and can be used as is.
Dependent on gearbox.

So would you say it's easier to machine the silvertop pump or use an idler pulley?

I will be using an XR3i gearbox

Idler pulley.
With the 3i box being a front starter box, you will needs to remove some webbing from the upper part of the two part sump.

ERM..
Later silvertop and all blacktop engined cars.

It's not an amazing issue to cut the webbing off.
10 minutes with an angle grinder.
Plenty of pics on here of what needs cutting.

To be fair as I have the box in the shed I may as well carry on the way I was going.
Further reading tells me I need a shorter starter motor - is this correct? If so what am I looking for haha!

ERM...
Not sure. I've never done a blacktop conversion. So can only tell you what I've read on here.
But I suspect it's mostly to do with the exhaust manifold used.
I can use a standard xr2 on my setup.
But the shorter the starter, the better. Less effected by exhaust heat the shorter it is.
