Another question. Can't find the answer anywhere. Are inlets interchangeable wiring wise?

I got a 1.8 escort for peanuts so am using it as a doner for my mk2.

Have seen plastic inlets in mk2's so thought I was safe. Have seen that some people have said the escort plastic inlet fouls the brake bar though. Is that when fitting or when driving when the engine moves?

Can I switch to an so/ho metal inlet and still use my escort engine loom?

I've only ever seen one plastic inlet in a mk2 on here.
The guy who had the car ended up changing it for a metal inlet I'm sure due to it fouling the bulkhead.

I can't answer your wiring question.
I would guess yes.
What connrvtions are there?
Tps, injectors and the valve thingy on the back of the inlet. :eh:

Jason.

You can still use the escort loom
As its split into sub looms
As you hAve the later engine I take it you have a pats loom.
Easier to use a earlier escort or fiesta loom

Yeah its a pats loom. I've removed it from the escort and seems easy enough to re-wire. Was looking at keeping the pats as an extra bit of security

With a little bit of adjustment you can fit the escorts ignition barrel into fez steering lock assy and use chip key and pats immobiliser as it is in esc
I did in mine and yeah little bit of adjustment to plug position for tps and all plugs in no problems air temp sensor fits in back of ally manifold plug just reaches

Yeah I was going to take the barrel out and see if it fits and if there's room to put the receiver around it.

Nice one cheers. Are the injectors and rail able to be swapped over as well or do I need to find a manifold with injectors fitted

Ally manifold has sandwich plate that the injector rail bolts to rails are same plastic mani or ally mani but idle speed valve is totally different

When you pull the barrel out the fez you will need to file a grove in the side inside and drill a hole in side for locking pin use a dremal or something similar there is room for the pickup ring no problems

If i were to fit another zetec into a mk2 I'd canter the engine forwards so the plastic inlet could be used, ideal on a frs conversion. Lad with a mk3 had gone this route too, helps more if doing an mtx conversion to straighten up the mounting links.
Just a thought.

So does that mean you can use the ally top bit of the manifold on the plastic injector bit off say an escort or focus manifold? As I've got the top half of an efi mani and need the sandwich plate
