im after a engine for my mk2
iv got the chance of buying a 1800 silvertop zetec off a mate of mine thats been striped down checked over, new head gasket, water pump an all that jazz

not sure what model its from ie 105bhp 115bhp or 130

am i right in thinking there all the same apart from the cams?

if it was the 105 an i put 2lt cams in it would that bring it up to the same spec as the rs1800 lump?

thanks jake

Not exactly.

105 engine is 105ps. Not bhp.
115ps engine is a 105 engine with a different ECU and throttle body.
130ps rs1800 engine has different cams to the 105 and the Mondeo 136ps 2.0ltr engine.
As well as a different ECU and throttle body.
It also has oil piston cooling jets that the 105 lump does not have.

Putting 136 cams in a 105ps engine does not give 136 or 130ps in a 1.8.
It's close. But not 130ps.

Mostly, it depends on what throttle body, ECU and cam combination you choose.
Then there's wear to contend with too!
Ditch the injection and you open a whole new can of worms with carbs.
Bike, single carb, twin 40, 45, 48.....

You can check the lump from the engine number.
Just need the first few letters as I recall.

Jason.

Check the engine number and the cam rings to identify the engine and cams.

I presume you mean megajolt?
That's only as good as the map on the unit and the setup of the carbs.
But good setups can be made.
I don't think there's been anyone on here who's upgraded to zetec power that has been disappointed.

Except those who have had engine issues.

Jason.

Have a look here Jake,

You should be able to identify exactly what you have.

Cheers
