Who runs their Zetec without the plastic covers protecting the belts?

I am wondering whether to do it myself for ease of access when the engine is in the bay.

I don't run them.
Didn't on my cvh either.
Yes, you can leave yourself open to fatal engine damage.
Chance you take if you leave them off.

Jason.

I run my engine with them - admittedly they have to 'hacked to death' to get them on the blacktop engine in a mk2 - well at least mine did.

I run without, I'm not sure what access you think you'll have with or without though.

I'm just thinking if I have to change the cambelt down the line, I would most likely have to drop the engine if the covers are in the way right?

You'll have to drop the engine anyway to get the bottom pulley off.

You have to drop the engine on a mk1/2 to change the can belt.
There just isnt enough room . with or without the belt cover.

I left mine off as I forgot to put the back cover on when I rebuilt the engine.
But I like the look of the belt being on display anyway.

Jason.
