just a quick one what does the PATS disable?

we have a spark does that mean PATS is working ok or does it not affect spark?

the problem we have is no ground output from the ecu to the fuel pump relay

donor car is a escort si 130bhp 1.8 zetec 1996 with a 'CAST' ecu - trying to wire it up as it was in the car keeping the PATS

cheers 8)

The PATS system stops the fuel pump working.

Without seeing whats been done it's hard to help. If all you've done is lift the engine harness and key transponder system then it should work. When I look at the ford wiring diagram it goes ECU - fuel pump relay - inertia switch - PATS - fuel pump. Ford doesn't detail the PATS wiring for obvious reasons. Think it's tied into the alarm module as well.

Sorry can't be anymore helpful.

I thought it killed the power to the coilpack too?

Pretty much yes - just looked at the wiring diagram and the PATS is somehow also wired through the crankshaft sensor. (I've just finished re-wiring my rs1800 ecu from an xr2i CVH loom and it's a non-PATS and has external EDIS so it's not a diagram I've looked at this later fit).

I was sure that most who get a pats loom have taken an ignition live to the coil pack and made their own loom for the fuel pump to override the pats.

But it's not anything I've messed with myself so best to wait for someone who has actually done the conversion to post and confirm.

Jason.
