i have just spent 3 hours hunting for information and come up with next to nothing
can this be done using the standard drivers side engine mounting position (the actual part of the shell)
many more questions to come
any links to blacktop mk1 build threads more than welcome! :cool!:

oh and im currently awaiting delivery of the engine so this should be fun

It can, but you need to shave off a lot of the metal around the eyelet to give the tensioner clearance. It's how I've done mine but many people prefer to move the battery somewhere else and use the original blacktop mount on the os inner wing area.

Silver or blacktop.
But the cvh mount needs work for both engines.

Silvertop and blacktop cvh adapted engine mounts do differ.
You can't use a silvertop adapted mount on a blacktop and visa versa

But the work needed to adapt a cvh mount to zetec is the same.
You just have to move a mounting point or two.

You don't have to do any shell mods to the mk2 with the silvertop.
Ideally you need to chop a bit out of the shell mount to clear the can belt on the blacktop.
Not everyone does, but if I put a blacktop in a mk2 I'd cut and strengthen the shell mount point

im trying to decide between putting it in my 1.1L or my xr2, the 1.1L would have to be on a st170 box and cvh engine mount for minimal shell alterations, the xr2 has already been cut for a 5speed and needs a new inner wing so would probably go down the standard focus engine mount route
