Years ago my brother bought an R reg Escort 1.8 Ghia X . Its got the 115 ps silvertop zetec engine.

Now, the cars a lot rusty but still runs well with 95K on clock. Basically its mine if I go and trailer it home because he can't be bothered to get it welded up again.

So what exactly do I need to remove besides the engine/box/wiring loom/ECU etc ?? I need to get this stripped of the vital parts and the rest gone to the breakers yard in double quick time as it'll be eating parking space and my wifes patience . I'd put the car away and rebuild it one day because it is/was a very nice car with a great spec, and rare as well but the space/time/wife combo is against the poor old thing.

Have a look on Passion Ford, there's a detailed guide by KarlosG I think.

Hope this helps

Right.
What are you after the engine for?

If it's for a Fiesta MK1/2 install.. All you can really use is the engine, box and manifold/downpipe.
The inlet of the 115ps version fouls the bulkhead.
If it's to sell on for profit, everything you mentioned.

The ECU is PATS enabled and isn't sought after by us for conversion.
Without the ECU and throttle body, the engine essentially becomes a 105ps engine.
Run it on carb(s) though or get a HO or SO alloy inlet and you're laughing.
But again, the none PATS ECU is more sought after as it's simpler to install.

But again. Strip it complete and sell it complete on Ebay. Might get your money back on it assuming £10 an hr strip time vs payout. :eh:

I'm running an R reg GTI engine in my XR2 on a carb with Megajolt. Goes well. :)

Jason.

If you've got the key for the car then you can use the ECU with PATS no problem at all. I did it in my zetec conversion. Just remove the loom that connects PATS ring on ignition to the ECU loom. It's a seperate piece and easy to remove from the Escort.
