I maybe log on two or three times a month but go onto the site more or less everyday seeing if there is any new content, of which there usually isn't much anymore.
It's a shame it's died off, as this site was invaluable when i first got my XR2 for improving my knowledge on the car and getting hold of those difficult to find parts in the sale section. I guess that's the way most forums are going and as this one is quite niche it already appeals to less people.
I still have the XR love it to bits but it's even more of a garage queen than ever, I just haven't had the time for it this year. It runs better than it ever but I've been out in it only a handful of times. I'd never sell it though I almost get as much pleasure just having it and looking at it anyway.
I also have
206 as a daily driver
MGTF 160
VW T4 camper conversion

15 years ago this place was really busy! there usually wasn't enough time to read all the new posts in one day! But XR2's were cheap throw away cars back then really, not considered classics, plenty about, plenty of owners, so plenty of chat on here. Now most of the cars have died, owners moved on and XR2's are now full on classics commanding big bucks making it a rich mans game.

Hence the quiet, and things like Facebook haven't helped either.

Cannot believe I joined the forum 7 years ago. Rarely visit and do not own an xr2. I did have a mk2 in Tasmian blue which I loved till it was stolen. Always remember the days when I had it, my first fast ford, although by today's standard that's seems absurd. It's good to see this forum is still alive, despite Facebook. Well done to those still here.

Mk1/2's have now gone full on classic status now, so they are commanding bigger piles of cash to purchase. Long gone are the days of a £100 Mk2 XR2. Facebook is quite active with new posts and things, but mainly it's people trying to sell something for an absurd price or asking 'whats it worth' and being pissed off when it's not worth 10k.

He moved away from where he was living. I think I had the last parts off of him.

He had a veryyy tidy white mk1 fly (or it might have been a different conversion) and also the original red fiesta centre XR2 with the first rear disc and 2i conversion in it.

Yeah, he lived with his mum I think, I remember him showing me that Fly in his garage, red interior iirc. It's been sold at auction since. I had a Mk2 RS Kit off him, was a fair old drive from North Yorkshire to get it.

I think my visits here are at a frequency of about every six months on average, life keeps getting in the way of Fiesta related activity but the car is still safely in the garage, it seems to get ever more entombed each week what with all the other crap that keeps ending up in there.

It is a shame, people just want a near instant response these days and facebook has a captive audience because a lot of people already have an acocunt. This forum could be much better in terms of mobile performance as well. i think we can all agree that any development of it is pretty much dead now that Wayne's not involved.

Quite agree, I mean how many years has that temporary front page been there now about the site being back shortly :(

I think the issue was that the original site was written in asp, and Chris (who offered to host the site for free through his business) has linux based web hosting which is more suited to php. I guess his intention was to rewrite the site in a different language at some point, but real life gets in the way for all of us.
